The Colossus of Rhodes

Rhodes played a significant part in the lives of the Casdagli family. Jeremy’s Great Great Grandfather, Emmanuel Casdagli, who was born and spent a lot of time in Rhodes, adopted The Colossus of Rhodes as the family trading symbol in the 1880s. At the same time the following motto was also adopted:

“ΞΑΛΕΡΑ ΤΑ ΚΑΛΑ” – the Greek motto can be translated as “Naught without Labour” or “Good things are hard to come by”.

To continue the family tradition in the luxury goods trade Jeremy Nicholas Casdagli launched the Casdagli Cigars brand in 1997 placing the family trading symbol on the logo.
